Great Western Schoolhouse

National Rd. (1-70 Exit 213, west on Rt. 40)   The "little red schoolhouse" was constructed in 1870 with bricks made of clay from the banks of a nearby farm pond.  The school was used continuously until 1952.  It contains old-fashioned desks with built-in ink wells, McGuffey Readers and a potbelly stove, along with many other items traced to days gone by.  While the building does not have "regular" open hours, anytime the flag is up, you are welcome to come in, or by appointment.
