A major attraction for these festivals and the area in general, is the traditional European cuisine especially influenced by the Swiss and the Germans. This is documented in the numbers of visitors that rave about the quality and quantity of food when dining in our numerous Swiss and Amish restaurants. Oven fresh bread and pies, cheeses of all sorts, and Trail bologna is smuggled out of the county in homemade baskets, bakery boxes under numerous local labels, all made in our country kitchens. It is estimated that at least 4 million visitors come each year to enjoy their ‘Taste of Holmes County.'
